What Is the First Home (New Home) Concession?

First home buyers in Queensland have a major advantage in 2025. If you're buying a brand-new home or a substantially renovated property, you may qualify for a full transfer duty concession. This means you won’t pay any stamp duty at all.

Who Is Eligible?

You must meet all of the following to claim the concession:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be a first home buyer
  • Have never owned property in Australia or overseas
  • Be buying as an individual
  • Sign the contract on or after 1 May 2025

The home must be new or substantially renovated

You must move in within 12 months of settlement

The property must not include non-residential land

If you meet the requirements, you can claim the concession upfront or apply for a reassessment later.
