Australia has more than eight million renters, yet for many the biggest obstacle to home ownership isn't making weekly housing payments. It's saving a deposit while paying rent. Today, Australian proptech company Coposit announced Unrent by Coposit, a new home ownership pathway designed to help eligible renters break that cycle.
Rather than treating rent as money that disappears to a landlord each week, Unrent by Coposit has been developed to give eligible Australians the opportunity of home ownership through a new model that redirects their weekly rent into savings for their home deposit while being able to occupy their new home.
The launch marks the beginning of a phased national rollout, with early access now available through a limited public waitlist ahead of the full launch in October 2026.
Chris Ferris, CEO and Co-Founder of Coposit, said the idea behind Unrent came from listening to thousands of Australians facing the same frustration.
"Every day we speak to people who can comfortably afford weekly housing payments, but simply can't save a deposit while paying rent. The longer people rent, the further ownership often slips away. Rent rises, living costs increase, and saving becomes harder every year. We created Unrent because we believe the problem isn't that Australians have stopped believing in home ownership. It's that too many have been told it's impossible."

Coposit has spent the past several years helping Australians purchase eligible new homes with smaller upfront deposits through its existing platform. During that time one question kept resurfacing from customers.

Unrent is Coposit's answer.
The new platform is designed to provide another pathway into it for Australians who feel permanently locked out by traditional deposit requirements.

Ferris said the company deliberately chose a staged rollout.
"We're opening Unrent by Coposit in phases because demand has been incredibly strong already, and we'll be inviting people from the waitlist as new opportunities become available. This isn't about creating another rental product. It's about giving renters a genuine pathway towards ownership."
Australians can now join the Unrent by Coposit waitlist to receive priority access as the platform expands over coming months.
